kate5kiwis: *singing* JOY to the world, to all the boys and girls...

“If you were all alone in the universe with no one to talk to, no one with which to share the beauty of the stars, to laugh with, to touch, what would be your purpose in life? It is other life, it is love, which gives your life meaning. This is harmony. We must discover the joy of each other, the joy of challenge, the joy of growth.” — Mitsugi Saotome

*singing* JOY to the world, to all the boys and girls...

a few cutesy things have been flying off my Woozie's sewing machine (which she so generously lets me hog) this week. to add to the flood of aprons in the world, i present my latest handmade birthday present, for *Joy* (whose fave colours are green and orange... i hope!!).
i really am rather excited at the way this turned out. it's the essence of all things bright'n'hippie: paisley, tie-dyed apple green, bright sunshiney orange, and wavey rick rack. i luffs it. am off to a party to give it away give it away give it away now!
and lookit! the range-of-things-Katie-can-sew is expanding!!!
a dinky pinky fluffy baby-blankie for one of the newest girlies to arrive in the world:
warm and snuggly. with bonus iron-marks.

Outstanding colours choices. How do you get your fabrics to behave when you applique on fleece? Or is it bonded on?

how. do. you. do. that?!?!?

*I* want to learn how to sew so perfectly that my stuff could be sold in stores (like yours and Rachy's)!! *I* want to whip stuff up magically with nothing in my hand but... I don't know, what do you hold when you use the sewing machine? Well, with nothing under my foot but a pedal!
*I* want to give away perfect, symmetrical, neatly-stitched, colour-co-ordinated gifts to the people I love!

Btw, the stuff is awesome (if you didn't already figure that out). I love how you take old things and make them timeless, recreating them into the perfect little quilt or covered journal or dress or apron or tote... you rock, Aunty Kate!
