YIPPEE ZIPPEE!!! today is the Shortest Day Of The Year in the Southern Hemisphere, which means that it's the Longest Day Of The Year in the Northern Hemisphere... the long-standing family joke is that it certainly was the Longest Day Of The Year for Bulldog's Pop's mother ninety-one years ago when he emerged into the world this day deep in the highlands of Scotland.

i'm completely ecstatic that today is the Shortest Day Of The Year because that means that tomorrow is h'officially *Early Summer*. thank God/Buddha/Allah/Cher. cos i am in dire need of some hot sunshine: all i have in the *bright orb of liquid gold* category are my sexy lemons, and if you look closely, you'll see that they have Bad Pixie Dust on them, rather resembling Sarah Bean's mandarins.

i'm also completely ecstatic cos i'm off to my gourmet foodie girls’ dinner tonite: the theme is *mexicana* and kelly just phoned to say “bring your drinking boots” for all the sangria and tequila. well, i've never had tequila... ah, such a sheltered life bwahahahaha. i was gonna dress up all “Poppy” but after upending half of my wardrobe have decided that i look really naff and these girls aren’t in on the Poppyjoke yet, so i have gone all teen-hippie-conservative again... except for the riotous boots: tan suede lace ups with furry tops.

oh and the other ecstatic news is that in celebration of Early Summer, i went for half hour brisk walk (my arms hurt from swinging them like a violent pendulum) and then did pilates this morning.
