“If you were all alone in the universe with no one to talk to, no one with which to share the beauty of the stars, to laugh with, to touch, what would be your purpose in life? It is other life, it is love, which gives your life meaning. This is harmony. We must discover the joy of each other, the joy of challenge, the joy of growth.” — Mitsugi Saotome

(if you haven't yet, get thee down to yer local quirky-artsy-British-film-cinema and watch Happy Go Lucky... and then come join the *Tall Poppies* club.)

YIPPEE ZIPPEE!!! today is the Shortest Day Of The Year in the Southern Hemisphere, which means that it's the Longest Day Of The Year in the Northern Hemisphere... the long-standing family joke is that it certainly was the Longest Day Of The Year for Bulldog's Pop's mother ninety-one years ago when he emerged into the world this day deep in the highlands of Scotland.

*waves to all the British rellies*

i'm completely ecstatic that today is the Shortest Day Of The Year because that means that tomorrow is h'officially *Early Summer*. thank God/Buddha/Allah/Cher. cos i am in dire need of some hot sunshine: all i have in the *bright orb of liquid gold* category are my sexy lemons, and if you look closely, you'll see that they have Bad Pixie Dust on them, rather resembling Sarah Bean's mandarins.

i'm also completely ecstatic cos i'm off to my gourmet foodie girls’ dinner tonite: the theme is *mexicana* and kelly just phoned to say “bring your drinking boots” for all the sangria and tequila. well, i've never had tequila... ah, such a sheltered life bwahahahaha. i was gonna dress up all “Poppy” but after upending half of my wardrobe have decided that i look really naff and these girls aren’t in on the Poppyjoke yet, so i have gone all teen-hippie-conservative again... except for the riotous boots: tan suede lace ups with furry tops.

oh and the other ecstatic news is that in celebration of Early Summer, i went for half hour brisk walk (my arms hurt from swinging them like a violent pendulum) and then did pilates this morning.

go watch the Poppymovie X

Oh good for you re the exercise!

So weird to think it is the shortest day with you. I just can't get my head round timezones and being opposite and stuff.

The weather here is not good today - hardly midsummer. Cold with intermittent rain. Good old Britain!

I am pretty confident that it was considerably lighter this morning when I woke up - apart from the fact that it was black with very angry rain clouds.....above the rain clouds the sun was just that much brighter and warmer...not long to go (we were swimming last October, so really only 3 months left of early summer!!)
