YOU'RE DELICIOUS - whatever your cup size!
i got a crazy text from my friend Ang a few weeks ago asking me if i'd team my boobs up with some of her cupcakes for The Sunny Bay's annual Breast Cancer Fun Walk...
that pink cupKATEs bra!
Charlie is most definitely the man for the job
when it comes to packaging forty cupcakes
for our team of girls -
he has the patience of a SHINING *STAR*!
it's been *ages* since i sewed a pink fairy skirt
(for a Toddler Woozie!)
but we definitely needed
the *pink* fairy skirts and wings.
funny day though... as i was sewing,
i found myself blinking back tears
for my Auntie Megan
(who introduced me to ABBA when i was eight!)
who lost her battle with cancer a few years ago;
and my Dad's Mother,
who courageously fought cancer
when he was a child.
i would've loved to have known my grandmother.
HAHAHAHAHA!!!
four thousand women (and a few disguised men!!)
*pinked ourselves up* and walked together
4.5km through the main streets of town.
and we sisters, mothers, daughters, aunties,
friends and families remembered the brave ones
who've gone before us,
and the courageous ones still living with cancer.
(the inevitable self portraits)
Nush, Katie and Kath
Woozie and Mummy
Madge, Nush, Ang and moi.
including a wee tussle over the pink hairspray
(*ahem* which turned our hair to pink straw!)
so that's the *pink mania*
we've been living over the last few days.
and now i feel a bit emotioned out,
but i'll be signing up to walk again next year,
because of solidarity and sisterhood
and remembrance,
and because the message of
YOU'RE DELICIOUS -
WHATEVER YOUR CUP SIZE!
is forever to be celebrated.
stop press!!!
i just saw that we're in the paper...
(yep, Woozie and me and Nush and Kath are highly visible at the bottom of page three of our local rag. you just need your magnifying glass!!!!!)

I am just beaming happy over here! When I read your tweet yesterday about heading out to the walk I was so hoping you remembered your camera!! And you did, and I am just enamored with these photos of sisterhood. Love the power we women have especially when we combine it!
Fantastic my friend. You worked so hard, well done!!!!!
Much love always,
a.
Fantastic cakes for a terrific cause - nice one!
... I had a *PINK* hangover yesterday, missing what Andie (above) was talking about, that power that women have when we combine it - I love that feeling, it's such a buzz when you realise you are not alone. Thanks for your tribute to your Grandmother and Aunty... it is important to remember the faces and people that this disease has taken. My mother in law passed away 5 years ago this weekend to breast cancer, so that is why my hubby was so supportive of this walk. We will be remembering her this weekend x
mags

angie
oh a *pink* hangover, you say? i know JUST what you mean. lots of emotions this week, love that all the strings were pulled together at the last minute - you and margot need a medal.
thinking of you and the lads this weekend. much love X
oh, my goodness. i don't know if anyone could even FATHOM how jealous i am right now - there is NOTHING equal to that in Cambodia; walking the streets, declaring your pinkness and presenting a united front as gorgeous ladies who support one another no matter what. i am especially jealous because i am researching the NZBCF right now for an English paper (we had to choose a charity) and that walk would have been an incredible experience. i am SO doing that when i get back to NZ. if i EVER get back, haha.
missing you all.

what a cool charity to research! help yourself to any of my photos if they're helpful lol. it was a wonderful feeling, walking together, and i will make you a pink tutu when you come back and we can all walk together!!! tell Mum that there's even wine-tasting en route lol!! X
Way to go Kate. I did a 5k run here a few weeks ago now, and although I did not dress up many others did. Your t-shirts are delicious and it is such a wonderful cause. Our run was emotional too, but hopefully one day we won't have to walk and run.
