kate5kiwis: if this man asked me on a weekend rendezvous in Barcelona, i'd say yes!

“If you were all alone in the universe with no one to talk to, no one with which to share the beauty of the stars, to laugh with, to touch, what would be your purpose in life? It is other life, it is love, which gives your life meaning. This is harmony. We must discover the joy of each other, the joy of challenge, the joy of growth.” — Mitsugi Saotome

if this man asked me on a weekend rendezvous in Barcelona, i'd say yes!

cos i'm frivolous and impulsive like that, and i've had a few mojitos. it's still summer holidays here, and we're having beachy days and nights, but egads! the kiddos have started counting sleeps until school starts. i'm not counting those, but i'm aware that the day approacheth. so we are buying up skool uniforms and roman sandals (puke) left right and centre - we still have a trailer load of skool stationery to purchase (but i refuse to get the prescribed THREE pencil sharpeners for mick). raych and joel are hatching a plan for Big Weekend Bake Offs where they stack the freezer with Delectable Lunchbox Fillers. then they all (including BD) have four weeks at school (i'll be a lady of leisure - hopefully hopping in and out of friends' sunny classrooms to get my head back in the game)... and at the beginning of march...uni starts... and Bulldog and i'll have that year's oasis. i can't wait. the whole package is pretty tempting, really. once i get over my little people being absent.

1) What are Roman sandals?

2) Where did BD get the Pittsburgh Pirates batting helmet? At least, that's what it looks like.

You have so much to look forward to!

It was the Roman Sandals which struck me too. Do children wear those to school?

If the beginning of school is near then so is my trip. Yippppeeee.

Barcelona is one of my favourite cities - love it. I'd go there no matter who asked me!!!

don't tell anyone, but i am actually hatching "naked bus" plans for free NZ road trips during my days off... i could pack my books and meet ya for coffee during Play Lunch? (do you call it that? we used to call it that) X

kate
Bring it on!!
i have been looking for a 2009 mantra - i'm thinking i just found it! thank you babe X

steve
the glass is half full, my friend! (guess the movie line) X

1. roman sandals are stock school uniform in NZ - i thought they were a global phenomenon, but apparently not. it's like having a block of wood strapped to yer foot. i wore 'em when oi were at lad too. actually, i think Noah probably wore 'em in the ark. which is where they belong, imnsho.

2. that's BD's *MR PLOD* hat. not sure from whence it came, but he is currently practicing being the "Bad Cop" around here, which means that i can become the "Good Cop". cos this year i am swearing off nagging peeps about housework X

RB
i think children wear them TO school and take 'em off as soon as they get there - nasty things. daft school policy.

i have never been to Barcelona, the title is a knock off line from the film we saw the other night!!! i know you don't make a habit of going to the cinema, but if you can brave the Blighty storms, i think you'll love this movie! X

teeni
oh thanks teeni!!! actually i have a scrunchy-nose, cos i was giggling!!! but it was a lovely moment - glad it got saved on mags's camera X

Three pencil sharpeners?? Does seem a bit overmuch.

Enjoy the last bit of summer, and here's to an amazing year ahead, with all sorts of adventures, big and little!
