kate5kiwis: On the Sixteenth Day of Christmas

kate5kiwis

“If you were all alone in the universe with no one to talk to, no one with which to share the beauty of the stars, to laugh with, to touch, what would be your purpose in life? It is other life, it is love, which gives your life meaning. This is harmony. We must discover the joy of each other, the joy of challenge, the joy of growth.” — Mitsugi Saotome

On the Sixteenth Day of Christmas

ooo lookit - katie's *Christmas giveaway* is here!

today is the day that Sam spent his hard-earned-and-carefully-saved-cash on his first best electric guitar - well, he was given his second best electric guitar a year ago - which is a handmade jobbie - and TODAY - after another three months of hard slog delivering newspapers and pamphlets he finally got his Epiphone Les Paul - big thanks to Granny and GD for paying the other half - and he played the song he's been writing all by himself - on and off over the last two days - squirrelled away in the Bat Cave - here's Sam's video debut - unplugged - cos we haven't got a voice mic and the guitar amp drowns out his vocals - oh and the lyrics are unfinished - but fabulous! (sorry for the slow download - there's 36.7MB of unelectricked electric eleven year old here)

(intro)

When you wake up

You can find yourself

Somewhere

In the middle of nowhere

You gotta be reckless

And you gotta be senseless

Yeah you can be famous

Like Jimi Hendrix

Yeah

Show yourself

There is a gift you can give

Tell yourself

There is a reason to live

Show yourself

(pause)

Show yourself

There is a gift you can give

Tell yourself

There is a reason to live

Yeah Yeah Yeah

how's *that* for an awesome Day Of Christmas?

That is amazing, Sam! I love the lyrics and the tune!

The guitar and bass players here would be very impressed! One of my favorite evenings so far this December was listening to them jam in the living room, the night Owen got his bass guitar.

WTG!!!

I get a thrill when boys (mine included) work for their $$ with paperruns etc and then put the $$ to good things like the guitar, or in my sons case a cellphone and a brand new bike. Keep up the good work pays off in the long run :)

ROCK and ROLL baby!! Tell him all my kids and hubby were cheering him on. They loved the video! (Of course I did too, beaming as if I were his momma too).
