kate5kiwis: "Beam me up, Gadget Boy!"

“If you were all alone in the universe with no one to talk to, no one with which to share the beauty of the stars, to laugh with, to touch, what would be your purpose in life? It is other life, it is love, which gives your life meaning. This is harmony. We must discover the joy of each other, the joy of challenge, the joy of growth.” — Mitsugi Saotome

"Beam me up, Gadget Boy!"

The nickname "Charlie" stuck one summer when the kids got Walkie Talkies in their Christmas stockings. I think that we had recently watched The Incredibles and heard Elastigirl's communications call "India Golf Nine-er Nine-er..." and so Joel decided that his Call Sign would be "CHARLIE NINE-ER NINE-ER" cos Charlie sounds like Joely.
and he's been Charlie ever since.

(photo courtesy of my gadget phone - cos i blondely left the camera in the car lol)

here's Charlie, with his friend Corey - they share their birthday - (yep, they're TWINS, born a year apart!) celebrating at the pools. It was so funny - without any consultation, the lads gave each other near-identical birthday pressies! the same brand of Spy Equipment.
ah, gadgetry of the happiest birthdayest kind.

and as promised, the rather excited teenaged Charlie now has another gadget - his own pxt phone.

"Beam me up,
Scotty Charlie!"
here's to beaming - and birthdays - and gadgets - and three teenagers in the house!
cos we love teenagers. yes we do.

*whispers* boy teens are easier than girl teens lol. actually - pre-teen girls are dynamite. they (on my global experience of *one*) chill out wonderfully by mid-teens!!!

Boy, you have birthdays galore in the summer months! Funny but that is our crazy bday time too. Love the spygear and love that you love having teens. You give me hope that it will be great, more than great. I have visions of cranky, black wearing, not talkative types walking around like zombies, lol. Your replacing that mental image for me, thanks!

for me/Bulldog, the relationship that we have with our teens is just like a normal friendship - mostly absolutely beautiful with a few niggles. i think it comes down to connection, appreciation, respect - but i'm not writing the how-to book just yet lol.
actually there is a great book published in NZ called "The White Water Rafting Years" which is about teen parenting - i love that image - fun, adventurous, unpredictable, bubbly.
i am very sure that you and yours will experience "more than great" teen years, babe!

My sons love the spyware stuff too. It can be a bit hair-raising getting about the house sometimes with all those laser beam barriers and listening devices!!

I have yet to have any experience of teenage boys (18 months to go). My daughter didn't turn into a monster though and has come out the other side of it all now!
