kate5kiwis: the un-birthday present

“If you were all alone in the universe with no one to talk to, no one with which to share the beauty of the stars, to laugh with, to touch, what would be your purpose in life? It is other life, it is love, which gives your life meaning. This is harmony. We must discover the joy of each other, the joy of challenge, the joy of growth.” — Mitsugi Saotome

the un-birthday present

there's a bit of a tradition of un-birthdays in our family. the story goes that when Dad was a little 'un watching his older sister unwrapping pressie after pressie on her birthday one year, he threw a wee tanty, immortalising these words, "Can't a feller have a present when it's NOT his birthday?"

fast forward a few years.

i was so organised last October that i bought a little something for M6's birthday two whole weeks *before* his birthday (instead of my usual Night Before Tactics) and hid it under my bed. unfortunately we then left his bike at the park and my head got full of The Bike Makeover and I FORGOT ALL ABOUT THE HIDDEN PRESSIE!!

imagine my amazement when while fossicking under the bed for something today, a little bag was discovered...

mmmmm, it's very hard to pose for a photo when you're full of after-dinner-ice-cream.

I love the unbirthday presents. We had an unChristmas present this year as Hubby hid a present and forgot where it was for a while. It made it all that much sweeter when we finally found it.
