kate5kiwis: shine shine shine

“If you were all alone in the universe with no one to talk to, no one with which to share the beauty of the stars, to laugh with, to touch, what would be your purpose in life? It is other life, it is love, which gives your life meaning. This is harmony. We must discover the joy of each other, the joy of challenge, the joy of growth.” — Mitsugi Saotome

shine shine shine

Our gang have been making flags and stringing mirror balls and threading hearts onto organza ribbon and stuffing goodie bags for *days*...
and finally.. this weekend was *SHINE*

fairy lights and pink frangipani flowers

four beautiful girls: no ordinary life!!

our beautiful tamariki
waving their flags and singing their hearts out:

"Don't ya know that you can shine, shine shine...
and together we will shine..."

the gorgeous R13 and April dancing and singing...

Shine like a star cuz that's the way you are baby
Shine like a star cuz that's the way you really are
No matter what's you're made of
Believe in yourself and keep your head up!
No matter where you came from
You can do anything..

Okay, can we get a little background for this event? And what all the flags are for? I know none of them is the New Zealand flag (thanks to Wikipedia.) Nice pics.

:o) hello barb
details... details...
my friend ang ran a women's event this weekend, to raise $$$ for women in cambodia, hence all the south east asia flags: yup, NZ flag *was* there: twelve flags in all. (it's just that my camera has no optical zoom, and i was busy out the back with the very excited kiddos.. so took a couple of pix as they came tumbling out the back of the stage.. didn't get all the flags in)

four of our kids were involved on the friday night: R13 in choir, and our three young lads in the flag-waving.. to that song *shine* in the robots movie.
oh, and D17 and hubby did the babysitting *woot woot*...

260 chicks came, and it was c-o-o-l..
on saturday i choked back tears, listening to a chat about homes of hope and the wonderful stuff that's going on with our at-risk kids in our town.
R13 was really excited cos she won a teddy bear :o)
we loved having mel and da chicks stay over on friday night.

lotsa thoughts all jumbled up...
we're now rushing to a birthday party and then a baby shower: i think i might've caught my breath by monday :o)
