“If you were all alone in the universe with no one to talk to, no one with which to share the beauty of the stars, to laugh with, to touch, what would be your purpose in life? It is other life, it is love, which gives your life meaning. This is harmony. We must discover the joy of each other, the joy of challenge, the joy of growth.” — Mitsugi Saotome

viva the vikings...

We had a fabulous time at the viking exhibition at our fave museum in the school hols..

We talked to a REAL VIKING: we christened him "Erik the Red": he had made a little whistle out of a deer bone!!

He talked to us and answered all our burning questions about vikings, and we tried on chainmail this'n'that, and lifted swords, and tried on helmets..

..and blew a real cow's horn, and we even had a go at writing in runes and doing coin rubbings.

that's me: aka Helga the H'sexy (the chewing gum is very authentic)..

Neat! It looks very similar to what we call a "Renaissance Fayre" here. Fayres are commercial ventures that sell ye olde artisans' wares and ye olde ale and offer ye olde musicians and entertainment. My husband and daughters would have loved having a go at swinging around a sword. Yikes!
