the good, the bad, and the snuggly
good: the laundry floor, the hall carpet, and the garage floor are all very clean.
bad: the washing machine didn't register that its bowl was full, and poured about forty litres of water on the floor and up the hall.
good: the insurance company is paying for the clean up.
bad: the washing machine refuses to light up. it has died. *after* it poured about forty litres of water on the floor and up the hall.
good: a reconditioned washing machine will cost a third of the price of a new one. and it will have a warranty.
bad: no washing machine until friday.
good: in the interim, my adorable friend julie keeps popping our washing into her machine and hanging it on her line.
bad: toys and other paraphernalia from under the three boys' bed, in their wardrobe and all over the floor are now residing in our lounge: in boxes, out of boxes, over chairs, and all over the floor...
good: there will be no more procrastinating *cleaning out* the boys' room (aka mini-skip)
bad: there are three really noisy blowers and two dehumidifiers making a h*ll of a racket in the midst of the chaos.
good: no problem, we are just entertaining all and sundry visitors on any available space, and the kids can even hear the dvd over the noise of the blowers. it's turned up to a thousand decibels, but they can hear it.
snuggly: looks like we're sleeping marae-styles tonight: so it's first in, best bed....

Eeep!
At least the family sleep over will be fun. :)
aaack!!!
Yikes! The horror story every homemaker dreads.
At least it sounds like you're handling it well...
Okay, so I will confess to LMAO when I first read....(only because I am the queen of forgetting I turned a tap on and flooding my kitchen...kalma must of been kind in this place its got overflow valves!!)....but truly, what a pain! My Mum, when dying her hair once, was shaking the bottle as she walked through the house only to find that she had shaken drops of dye all over the carpet all through the house. Turned out they didn't make that carpet anymore and the insurance would only cover the dyed area so they were gonna have to have two different carpet styles....forget how it turned out, but it could be worse huh?
At least the boys will have lovely clean rooms....for a week or two ;o) xoxoxoxox
oh no, the horror of it all
but yeah to you for seeing the silver lining in it all :)
so sori about your washing machine
pleased it came under your insurance
bless your friend Julie

what? the Washing Machine Queen with no wm?????????
what WILL you do all day?
Yuck, that stinks. Happy late birthday too.
It's actually like (to my weird brain) The Good, The Bad, and The Sudsdy.
You've been mostly-dead all day.
Emily has woken up this morning with Chicken Pox, and so we are now in isolation for about a week (until Offie gets it, and then we will have another week....) anyway, I decided that if we are going to be home (which I am thinking will be secretly wonderful) we can have things clean - so the bedroom windows have been washed, floors mopped, drawers sorted - even with their summer clothes all ready for summer..!! And this is only day ONE - possibly by this afternoon we may be bouncing off the walls - but then we can always go for a big walk.
Oh - big moment....today I tied back my hair! I am now (mostly) in the category of longer hair!! YAY
Ack! You have my supreme sympathy. Our machine did that about ten years back. It was on the second floor. I came home to six ferret oyfully playing in the shower that had erupted in the hallway ceiling...
At least you're keeping your sense of humor about things :)
