“If you were all alone in the universe with no one to talk to, no one with which to share the beauty of the stars, to laugh with, to touch, what would be your purpose in life? It is other life, it is love, which gives your life meaning. This is harmony. We must discover the joy of each other, the joy of challenge, the joy of growth.” — Mitsugi Saotome

Wairua Mountain

We had such a fun time at our Steiner Day yesterday..
"drip drip drop little April shower.."
Aidan and J10 spent pretty much all day just whittling and sandpapering.. until the willow wood was a soft as a baby's.. er, cheek..

Our fabulous Caroline shows S8 how to make papier mache hedgehogs, sticking paper over pinecones.

lots of concentration as the lovely Louise helped to scrape willow sticks, which were then decorated with duck feathers, nails and leather (last weekend was the opening of duck shooting season, so the feathers needed to be plucked out of the ducks!!)...

the finished "talking stick"...

.. with which Peter taught us some maori stick games and waiata.
