kate5kiwis: Cinder-Elle, you *shall* be the belle...

“If you were all alone in the universe with no one to talk to, no one with which to share the beauty of the stars, to laugh with, to touch, what would be your purpose in life? It is other life, it is love, which gives your life meaning. This is harmony. We must discover the joy of each other, the joy of challenge, the joy of growth.” — Mitsugi Saotome

Cinder-Elle, you *shall* be the belle...

My gorgeous friend Elle (say, "Ellie") is getting married next month.
She has designed her wedding dress with a koru on the skirt...

The koru shape is a scroll shape and is linked to the New Zealand fern plant. The shoot of the fern has a curled-over tip which unfurls and becomes a fernleaf.

The koru represents the unfolding of new life, that everything is reborn and continues. It represents renewal and hope for the future.

In July, Elle saw these: designed by a Titirangi jeweller, and got all inspired. Very kiwi, very funky, love it. So she asked me if I'd have a go at creating/recreating some wedding jewellery for herself and three bridesmaids.
I finally found my muse.

Elle's necklace, and heart-shaped earrings, modelled by the beautiful R13.

Necklaces for the maids.

Their earrings are tear-shaped paua, like the flower petals.
I hope she likes them. I do.

Oh wow!! I didn't realise you were so clever!!
Start up a business.
Honestly - I am dead serious, sell over the internet, maybe talk to a few shops (like my Aunty Bron's Gallery in Swanson which also sells NZ hand made jewellery, and pottery etc) and get your stuff in there. You are really very talented. Don't hesitate - I will help you...just think - your hubby could retire in a few years!!!
Wish I knew about this for my wedding - I had this gorgeous flower girl, who would have loved a necklace like that!! Hee hee!!
