limbo

this abrupt halt of summer holidaying feels weird. the kiddos are all suddenly at skool. there's no uni to gear up for or breathe a sigh of relief from, and i am vascillating between glee and guilt. the house is tidy (and has stayed tidy. totally freaky.) and i have made a tall chocolate cake with buttercream icing, and i even ironed Bulldog's shirts. temperature check, comin' right up. i've filled the week with coffee dates so that i don't go mental listening to my own voices. i've printed out three soooped-up-CVs to drop off to the local yokel universe (when i find my brave gene. firstly i probably need to remove a few of my hippie bracelets, put on some shoes, and look respickable.)

oh, news. i have a teaching arvo (paid. with money. how strange.) booked for friday. so i need to hit these scary fairy vibes firmly on the head and make like nike. oh, deep breath, come hither.

  1. You had me at "chocolate cake with buttercream icing". I can be there in hours and will clean for food.

  2. Great news re the teaching stint. Hope that goes well.

So weird that the kids have gone back to school. Time goes so quickly. It was this day last year that I flew to Australia for our 3 month adventure. Yikes. Makes me feel rather sad to think of it.

But on the positive side, yours are back to school that must mean we are heading for spring here. And that is def a good thing.

Your house has stayed clean???? Boy!

  4. Okay, I need a translator. Is an arvo an appointment? Or an assignment? Anyway, just be your normal outgoing luffly self and you'll be fine.

'arvo' is a kiwi (i think?) abbreviation for afternoon.
so the translation = i'm relief (substitute) teaching in a classroom of eleven year olds on friday afternoon!

  7. 11 year olds - my favourite! We've hit the ground running here with sports and swimming and music lessons to be fitted around school and homework and oh I guess I should feed everyone in there somewhere?

Did you wear a fancy schmancy skirt to work?

yes i did! well, one of my fahnciest schmahnciest - made from a scrap i found in the garage lol. it's a bit 'annah s' - sorta heavy semi-stretch chocolate/black pinstripes, with black lace around hem. sounds weird. probably is weird.
something hilarious tho - was teaching swimming yest, and two wee girlies said they thought my skirt fabric looked familiar - yeah, the yellow sunflower sheet skirt... X
